Hello my darling Flow friends,

What do you do when things feel uncertain?? how do you process challenging life events??

The best way out of challenges is often through contemplation, perspective and surrender.

Today, I am so grateful to chat to our darling Frya, about the ways in which we can trust the underlying magic of tarot, to help tap in, and govern our life's direction with more grace and clarity.

"Tarot is a prophetic book, in which everyone can read their purpose, meaning, reason and value"

Below I chat to Frya about her journey to finding Tarot, and how we too can harness the intuitive force of Tarot.

Frya, please tell me little about your journey to finding tarot?

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been drawn to the spiritual world.

I’ve always felt strongly in tune with my intuition, and I was always looking for answers in this life.

After a traumatic horse-riding accident when I was 18, followed by a very long recovery, I felt as if my world was flipped upside down. Everything I deemed as important before, all of a sudden didn’t seem of any importance at all.

By the time I recovered, I had graduated from Law School in the Netherlands, and I was working in the corporate world for about 3 years. Every inch of my body told me that I needed a change, so I decided to pack everything up and travel without a date of return.

After 4 months of travelling, I arrived in Indonesia and booked a reading with an Indonesian healer.

That reading shifted my perspective completely, and made me fall in love with Tarot.

It was in this specific reading that I asked what my purpose is in this life, and he told me that I should be the one reading intuitively, so that I can guide others on their path.

And here we are, about 2.5 years later, now living in Australia with the love of my life and just having launched Moon Mous, my intuitive reading business.

Can you tell us a little about the history of tarot?

Reading Tarot is an ancient spiritual practice that has been around for a very long time.

It’s believed that the earliest tarot cards date to the fifteenth century, and were created in Northern Italy.

The word tarot likely comes from the Italian card game tarocchi.

Over the next centuries the cards have gained in popularity, though often referred to as an occult practice (sometimes negatively), especially during the eighteenth century.

In a sense it is an occult practice, as the word occult means hidden knowledge.

And that is the magic of tarot, the cards reflect the beliefs of the creators and hold an infinite amount of wisdom and symbolism.

"What we plant in the soil of contemplation, we shall reap in the harvest of action"

Ultimately life is ever changing, and tarot will only give us insight on what is happening in our current time line. We have the power to shift our reality into a more positive outcome though action and intention.

Let the cards shine the light of awareness on your life.

How should I prepare for a reading, what should I expect?

Expect the unexpected! Tarot is a beautiful tool to connect to your higher self and to bring what’s hiding underneath into the light.

All you have to do is come with an open heart and mind.

I often do recommend clients to have a couple of questions in mind, or even a direction (for example relationships, finance or career).

This doesn’t have to be specific, it’s just to have a starting point and the magic of Tarot will take it from there!

What cards do you use and why?

I use four different Tarot Decks that I’ve hand picked because I personally felt drawn to them.

I offer my clients the choice between these decks at the start of the reading, because it is very important to use a deck that you resonate with, to fully use them to their potential.

If you’re looking to buy a deck for yourself, I would recommend choosing one that you feel drawn too.

There is also a difference between Tarot Decks and Oracle Decks.

A traditional Tarot Deck consists of 78 cards, divided in 22 Major Arcana Cards and 56 Minor Arcana cards.

Usually Tarot Decks contain the same 78 cards, with different imaging and sometimes (slightly) different interpretations.

For example, every Tarot Deck will have the Fool Card, which is the first card of the deck.

Oracle decks on the other hand, vary in amount of cards, topics, and meanings.

How can I use the wisdom of tarot in my daily life?

A fun mindful practice is to tune in everyday and ask the cards a question.

This can be a question aimed at a specific situation in your life, or a question as ‘What do I need to know today?

Sit down in a quiet space and ponder this question, while holding/shuffling your deck and keeping your eyes closed.

After drawing a card and interpreting the answer, keep this card and it’s lessons in mind throughout your day and watch the magic happen!

I also offer a beautiful Tarot Guidance program, in which I incorporate the magic of the cards into practical tools you can use in your day to day life.
